UAE Nationals Abroad Face Surge In Thefts

Recently, there has been a rise in complaints from Emirati nationals residing abroad regarding a surge in robbery incidents. As a response, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has intervened by issuing updated travel advisories to ensure the safety of its citizens.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) of the UAE has cautioned Emirati travelers regarding incidents of theft across various European countries. Travelers are advised to exercise heightened caution particularly in Spain, Georgia, Italy, the UK, France, and Austria.

Due to the rising number of thefts targeting UAE nationals in multiple European countries, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has released a detailed advisory to safeguard Emirati travelers and their interests.

The advisory underscores the critical need for Emirati travelers to exercise caution and remain vigilant while visiting Spain, Georgia, Italy, the United Kingdom, France, and Austria.

Listed below are the travel guidelines shared officially by the MoFA:

  1. Refrain from displaying valuable or unique items.
  2. Ensure that official documents are securely stored at your accommodation.
  3. Use trusted global companies for booking rental cars and hotels to minimize the risk of scams and fraudulent activities.

MoFA has urged UAE nationals to stay informed about specific travel guidelines. Emiratis are encouraged to regularly check the UAE traveler page on the ministry’s website and app for updates. MoFA recommends registering for the “Twajudi” service, which offers vital assistance and support during emergencies abroad.

Furthermore, Emiratis are advised to save the emergency contact number for UAE nationals (0097180024) for immediate assistance and guidance.
