Construction For The Dubai Metro Blue Line To Start This Year – Proposed Route Here

The Dubai Metro Blue Line is officially back in action! HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has given it the go-ahead. After being paused for a few years due to the global economic slowdown, the future of public transport in Dubai is looking more promising than ever. Stick with me, and I’ll fill you in on all the details!

The Planned Route

Construction of the Blue Line is scheduled to kick off this year. It will link up with the existing Centrepoint station on the Red Line and Creek station on the Green Line.

  • Starting at Centrepoint, the line will make its way through Mirdif, with a station likely near Mirdif City Centre Mall. It will then continue through Al Warqa, Dubai International City (1, 2, and 3), and Dubai Silicon Oasis, before reaching its final stop at Dubai International Academic City.
  • From Creek, the Blue Line will cross over Dubai Creek, with stops at Dubai Festival City, Dubai Creek Harbour, and Ras Al Khor Industrial Area. It will then merge with the line from Centrepoint at Dubai International City 1, making that station a crucial transfer hub.

Will the Line Be Mostly Underground?

Out of the 30 km route, approximately 15.5 km will be underground, reaching depths of up to 70 meters. Of the proposed 14 stations, 5 will be underground stations, highlighted in yellow on the route map.
