Gulfood 2026 Dubai traffic

Gulfood 2026: This week is predicted to see more traffic than usual in Dubai.

Drivers, brace yourselves: another major exhibition is taking place in Dubai this week, and traffic is expected to follow

Aside from the weather, the traffic in Dubai is always a hot topic, and we’ve got news that might have you reshuffling your schedule: Gulfood 2026 is back, happening from January 26 to 30, 2026. And that can only mean one thing – get ready for a front-row seat to everyone’s brake lights on Sheikh Zayed Road, especially around the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).

Gulfood is one of the world’s biggest annual food and beverage trade shows, bringing together global products, trends, and innovations right in the heart of Dubai. It’s always hosted at the DWTC, but this year it’s even bigger expanding to include the Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo City Dubai, marking a massive upgrade.

That said, don’t expect any relief from the traffic jams around the Trade Centre roundabout. With ongoing roadwork, those brake lights are gonna be a constant companion.

Not planning to attend but want to dodge the traffic chaos? Here are a few tips to keep you out of the line of fire.

Leave the car at home for the week

Whether you’re heading to Gulfood 2026 or just making your regular commute, the smartest way to beat the traffic is to ditch the car and hop on the Dubai Metro.

The Metro’s a quick and hassle-free way to get from A to B, sparing you from those endless traffic jams. But, fair warning, it can get packed during peak hours. As one of Dubai’s top transport choices, it’s not only faster but also budget-friendly. Just keep in mind, its popularity means you might be waiting a bit, and the cabins could be crowded.

Alternatively, why not carpool with a friend or colleague? It’ll mean one less car on the road, and you get to catch up – hopefully making the journey feel a lot quicker!

Take alternate routes or use parallel roads

It might sound obvious (and yeah, Google Maps will probably have the roads lit up in bright red), but if you don’t have to be on Sheikh Zayed Road, take an alternative route and save yourself from the gridlock.
