It’s not 100% official yet, but the city’s gearing up to launch a Dubai Metro Gold Line to join the lineup soon!
The Middle East Economic Digest (MEED) shared that the RTA has put out a request for proposals for the consultancy role on the Metro Gold Line. Companies from the US, Canada, UK, and France are among the potential bidders.
According to the report, potential bidders include US-based Aecom, Jacobs, and Parsons, Canada’s AtkinsRealis, UK-based Mott MacDonald, and France’s Systra. The deadline for applications is set for May.
The Gold Line will kick off at Al-Ghubaiba and travel alongside the current Red Line.
This means fewer crowds on the Red line, which is super exciting!
The Gold Line will start on the Al Ghubaiba side of Bur Dubai, then head inland to connect key areas like Business Bay, Meydan, Global Village, and the residential developments in Dubailand. In a dynamic city like Dubai, which is fast moving toward becoming a “20-minute city,” public transport is sure to be a game-changer!

This announcement comes on the back of the Dubai Metro blue line that was announced in December 2024
In December 2024, the RTA went all-in with a spectacular fireworks and drone show to announce the upcoming Blue Line, which is set to be operational by 2029.
The Gold Line is still in the planning stages… so stay tuned for official updates!
