Penalty for Abu Dhabi residents

Be aware that citizens of Abu Dhabi may be fined Dhs 4,000.

If you’ve been keeping up with whatson.ae, you’ve probably seen our recent articles on the new fines popping up in the UAE capital, like the one for car owners, and this one too. Now, Abu Dhabi’s Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has rolled out penalties for anyone not following the proper guidelines when it comes to installing satellite dishes.

The announcement clarifies that ‘building owners and their authorized reps need to install satellite dishes according to the approved standards. Any improper setups — especially those that clutter rooftops, balconies, or walls — could result in hefty fines under Clause No. 61.’

This initiative is all about keeping the city clean, orderly, and visually appealing. Just like the fines for those who don’t keep their cars clean or hang laundry on their balconies (messing with the city’s vibe), the penalties for improper satellite dish installations will rise with each offense. First-time offenders face a Dhs1,000 fine, Dhs2,000 for a second violation, and Dhs4,000 for the third and any following violations.

Balconies might be treated as storage spaces for ‘random junk,’ but now there are fines for that too. If you’re caught storing stuff on your balcony or terrace, you’ll face Dhs500 for the first offense, Dhs1,000 for the second, and Dhs2,000 for the third and any repeated violations.
