Travelling to India is about to become more affordable, thanks to the initiative of two Dubai-based businessmen who are launching a new low-cost budget airline called Air Kerala. This airline has already secured its initial no-objection certificate (NOC) from India’s civil aviation ministry, a major milestone in its establishment. Air Kerala, registered under Zettfly Aviation, is now authorized to operate scheduled commuter air transport services for the next three years. This exciting development promises to make travel to India more economical, offering a lighter load on your wallet with Air Kerala!
The Visionaries Behind Air Kerala
Air Kerala is the brainchild of UAE entrepreneurs Afi Ahmed and Ayub Kallada. Afi Ahmed, the founder of Smart Travels, expressed, “This achievement is the culmination of years of hard work. Despite doubts from many, receiving the NOC is a significant leap forward.” The journey began last year when Afi Ahmed purchased the domain name airkerala.com for AED 1 million, reigniting the aspirations for an airline originally envisioned by the Kerala government in 2005.Top of Form

The Next Steps For Air Kerala
With the NOC secured, the upcoming months are pivotal for Air Kerala. Ayub Kallada outlined, “Our immediate focus is on acquiring aircraft and fulfilling all regulatory obligations to obtain our Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC).” The initial strategy involves launching operations with three ATR 72-600 aircraft, with flexibility for leasing or direct purchase from manufacturers. The Zettfly Aviation board, comprising Afi Ahmed, Ayub Kallada, and Kanika Goyal, collectively brings substantial aviation expertise to the initiative.
Regional & Future International Operations
Initially, Air Kerala will prioritize regional flights, establishing connections between Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities and major metro airports. Ayub emphasized, “This will significantly enhance accessibility and convenience for travelers throughout these regions.” As the fleet expands to 20 aircraft, the airline’s strategy will include expanding to international routes. Afi elaborated, “Our aim is to offer affordable travel options for expatriates, with Dubai being among our initial international destinations.”
Kerala In The Heart Of Everything
Based in the bustling city of Kochi, Air Kerala is poised to stimulate tourism and trade in Kerala while generating approximately 350 jobs in the city. Afi highlighted the potential for international operations to create job opportunities in the UAE as well. With an initial investment of around AED 110 million, Air Kerala is set to make a substantial impact on the aviation sector and the lives of numerous expatriates. Wow! mind blowing, so if you want to make use of more than one single thread/core you have to invoke it in your code right? I remember there are ways to “unlock” cores during startup but that doesn’t mean my ordinary script will run faster right? what about software like Libreoffice or kicad? won’tl they be handled by multicores if they don’t use parallelism?I was happy playing Doom in all my cores 🙁 Knowledge hurts 🙂
