Fines up to AED 10,000 for unlicensed influencer collabs in ABU DHABI

The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) has issued a directive to all licensed economic establishments in the Emirate, emphasizing the need to adhere to specific controls and requirements when engaging with social media influencers. This includes ensuring influencers obtain an ADDED license for online advertising services, securing necessary permits for all advertising activities, and confirming that economic entities possess valid licenses when entering agreements with influencers or social media platforms.

Failure to comply could result in penalties ranging from AED 3000 to AED 10,000, and non-compliance with ADDED regulations may lead to business closure. In a circular released on Wednesday, ADDED expressed recognition and gratitude for the efforts of licensed economic establishments across Abu Dhabi Emirate in fostering an optimal business environment.
