Since August 2015, the UAE’s Ministry of Energy has been adjusting fuel prices each month based on average global oil prices. Before that shift, petrol was government-subsidised, meaning consumers were largely protected from the ups and downs of international fuel markets.
The move to market-linked pricing was a game-changer — bringing transparency, aligning with global trends, and encouraging more efficient fuel use.
So now when you fuel up, you’re not just filling your tank — you’re riding the waves of global oil economics.
