Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is set to roll out a new Variable Road Toll Pricing (Salik) system and an updated Parking Tariff Policy in 2025. These initiatives aim to optimize traffic movement and boost parking availability, especially during busy hours and major events.
Variable Salik Toll Pricing
The Variable Road Toll Pricing (Salik) system, launching at the end of January 2025, will adjust toll rates depending on traffic demand and time of day. Key highlights include:
Toll-Free Hours: Drivers can cruise without paying tolls from 1am to 6am every day.
Weekday Rates: During peak hours (6am–10am and 4pm–8pm), the toll will be AED 6. For off-peak times (10am–4pm and 8pm–1am), the rate drops to AED 4.
Sunday Rates: On Sundays (except public holidays or major events), the toll will be AED 4 all day, with toll-free passage from 1am to 6am.
New Parking Tariffs and Congestion Pricing
The Variable Parking Tariff Policy, set to roll out by the end of March 2025, will feature tailored parking rates based on zones and times. Here are the key details:
Standard Parking Fees: Premium parking spots will be priced at AED 6 per hour during peak hours (8am–10am and 4pm–8pm), while regular public parking will be AED 4 per hour. Off-peak hours (10am–4pm and 8pm–10pm) will keep the same rates, with free parking from 10pm to 8am and all day on Sundays.
Event-Specific Congestion Pricing: For major events, parking around event venues will cost AED 25 per hour. This new policy will kick off in February 2025, starting around the Dubai World Trade Centre.
With the rollout of variable Salik tolls and parking fees, Dubai is set to boost traffic flow, optimize parking usage, and ease congestion during peak times and major events. These changes highlight the city’s commitment to delivering smarter, more flexible transportation solutions for both residents and visitors.
