On December 4, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, took to Twitter to call out three general managers in the government sector for preventing the public from accessing their departments, going against the emirate’s values of maintaining an “open-door” policy for the people.
His Highness stated that these three individuals “built massive offices for themselves, surrounding them with managers, secretaries, and security staff to block people from entering or even reaching them.”

His Highness warned, “These are our core government principles… We haven’t shifted from them… And for anyone who thinks we’ve changed, trust me, we will make those changes.”
They allegedly justified their actions by claiming that the government is tech-savvy, with digital transactions and websites handling public needs. HH Sheikh Mohammed also revealed details from the government’s “mystery shopper” initiative, where undercover clients assess and report on various government departments.
