Two new Salik tool gates to open in Dubai – including Al Khail Road
This should help smooth out Dubai’s traffic flow…
The new Salik routes in Dubai will include the Business Bay Crossing on Al Khail Road and a second one in Al Safa South on Sheikh Zayed Road, positioned between Al Meydan Street and Umm Al Sheif Street.
The Business Bay Crossing gate is expected to cut traffic congestion on Al Khail Road by 12 to 15 percent, reduce traffic on Al Rabat Street by 10 to 16 percent, and shift some of the flow to Al Maktoum and Al Garhoud bridges, as well as Ras Al Khor Street.
Meanwhile, Al Safa South is set to cut right-turn traffic from Sheikh Zayed Road to Meydan Street by 15 percent and streamline traffic flow on Financial Centre, First Al Khail, and Al Asayel streets.
“Ibrahim Sultan Al Haddad, CEO of Salik, remarked, ‘The installation of new toll gates in these two high-traffic areas represents a significant milestone in our growth strategy, which we outlined during Salik’s IPO. Our collaboration with RTA on these new gates is a crucial advancement in our mission to elevate Dubai’s transport infrastructure through smart and sustainable mobility solutions.’”
“Aligned with Dubai’s Urban Plan 2040, which emphasizes sustainable and efficient urban development, we are committed to supporting RTA’s goal of optimizing travel time and reducing traffic congestion. These two new gates are designed to enhance overall mobility across the city, ensuring smoother and more efficient journeys for all road users.”
What is Salik?
Salik, meaning “clear and moving” in Arabic, is Dubai’s automated free-flowing road toll collection system. Launched in 2007, the Salik network now features eight toll gates strategically placed throughout the city.
Motorists are charged Dhs4 to pass through each gate which is automatically deducted from your prepaid account.
