Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has cut traffic by 60% in certain areas after rolling out upgrades across 50 locations. Hussain Al Banna, CEO of the Traffic and Roads Agency at RTA, shared: “The traffic solutions introduced in 2024 have made a major impact, boosting road network efficiency, improving vehicle flow, and cutting travel times by up to 60% in various spots around Dubai.”

The improvements span areas like Beirut Street, the intersection of Al Khawaneej Street with Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Street, and the expansion of traffic flow from Al Rabat Street to Business Bay Crossing. They’ve also expanded the exit from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Street to Al Rabat Street, along with adding a new route from Al Khail Street to Meydan Street.

Al Banna added: “In 2024, the Authority rolled out 8 traffic projects across over 37 schools in different areas of Dubai. These initiatives involved expanding the roads around schools, adding more parking spots, upgrading entrances and exits, and setting up traffic diversions to ease congestion and cut down waiting times. As a result, traffic flow during peak hours improved by 20%.”

These traffic upgrades are a crucial part of RTA’s long-term mobility strategy, highlighting their dedication to ongoing road development. These improvements align with the leadership’s vision of making #Dubai the best city in the world for both living and mobility.

Al Banna mentioned: “The Authority is set to roll out over 75 traffic upgrades across key areas in Dubai throughout 2025. These will include expanding and developing major intersections, adding new entrances and exits in both residential and commercial zones, as well as a series of quick traffic solutions in school areas. He emphasized that this work will continue to strengthen Dubai’s standing as one of the world’s top cities in terms of top-tier infrastructure and smooth, sustainable mobility.”
