With scheduled closures throughout the week and a complete closure on Sundays…
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that one of the city’s busiest elevated thoroughfares, Al Maktoum Bridge, will undergo partial, time-based closures until January 16, 2025.
In a post on X.com that has since been deleted, the RTA announced that the bridge will be closed from 11 PM to 5 AM, Monday through Saturday, and will experience a complete closure for 24 hours every Sunday.
The partial closure is attributed to maintenance works.
Since the bridge serves as a crucial connection to and from Deira and Dubai International Airport, motorists planning to use the bridge during these blackout hours should prepare in advance by considering alternative routes.
An article in Khaleej Times provided the following route diversion options:
From Deira to Bur Dubai:
- Infinity Bridge: Via Baniyas Road, Al Khaleej Street, and Corniche Street.
- Al Shindagha Tunnel: Accessible through Baniyas Road and Al Khaleej Street.
- Al Garhoud Bridge: Via Baniyas Road and Sheikh Rashid Road.
- Business Bay Crossing Bridge: Accessible through Baniyas Road, Sheikh Rashid Road, and Rebat Street.
From Bur Dubai to Deira:
- Infinity Bridge or Al Shindagha Tunnel: Via Tariq Bin Ziyad Road, Khalid Bin Al Waleed Road, and Al Khaleej Street.
- Al Garhoud Bridge: Accessible through Oud Metha Road and Sheikh Rashid Road.
- Business Bay Crossing Bridge: Via Oud Metha Road and Al Khail Road, Dubai.
