In 2024, DXB will once again be referred to as “The World’s Busiest International Airport.”

Dubai International Airport (DXB) has done it again, clinching the title of the world’s busiest international airport in 2024. With a staggering 60.2 million seats, DXB shows no signs of slowing down. According to aviation analytics company OAG, this represents a 7% increase in airline capacity compared to 2023 and a 12% rise from pre-pandemic levels in 2019. Keep reading for all the exciting details – and if you stick around till the end, I’ll share all the fun and free things you can do while at DXB!

Aviation On A Colossal Scale

DXB connects travellers to 269 destinations across 106 countries, served by 101 international airlines. Its top destination countries include India, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, and Pakistan. Not only does DXB top international rankings, but it also ranks second among the world’s busiest airports when considering both domestic and international flights. OAG noted that these rankings are based on scheduled one-way airline capacity for 2024. In the first half of the year alone, DXB welcomed 44.9 million passengers, with India and China driving much of the demand. The airport’s full-year traffic stats will be revealed in early 2025.
