Take note commuters…
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced a new minimum top-up amount for nol cards at Dubai Metro stations.
Starting August 17, 2024, commuters using the ticketing office must top up their nol cards with a minimum of Dhs50.
However, this new minimum does not apply when topping up online. According to the RTA, the fastest way to add funds to your nol card is through the nol Pay app, the official RTA website, or the RTA Dubai app.
If you’re on the go and can’t access any of these options, you’ll need to shell out Dhs50 at the ticketing office.
Commuters now need to have a minimum of Dhs15 on their Nol card (up from Dhs7.50) when using the metro to cover a round trip. One-way fares range from Dhs3 to Dhs15, depending on area zones and class.

What is a Nol card?
Nol cards are pre-paid smart cards that allow you to pay for various modes of public transport across the city with a single tap. This includes the metro, tram, buses, water taxis, and even Dubai taxis.

While this handy piece of plastic is primarily used for public transport, your nol card offers a range of other uses you might not be aware of…
Whether you’re tackling your weekly supermarket run or picking up a quick snack from a convenience store, the list of Dubai merchants accepting nol cards for payment keeps expanding. You can use it at select Almaya, Carrefour, Lulu, AllDay, and Zoom stores, among others. Just be sure to confirm with the cashier before you start your shopping spree.
Several Dubai restaurants now accept nol card payments as well. Heading out to a public park with the family? You’ll need your nol card to cover the Dhs5 entry fee at parks like Quranic Park, Zabeel Park, Al Mamzar Beach Park, Mushrif Park, Creek Park, and others. It’s also valid for purchasing tickets at the Etihad Museum.
