As we countdown to 2025, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is all set to ensure your New Year’s Eve commute is smooth and effortless. Say goodbye to traffic jams and roadblocks—this year, the Dubai Metro will be running non-stop for over 43 hours, offering a hassle-free way to get around and join in the city’s celebrations.
Kicking off at 5 AM on December 31 and running non-stop until January 1, the Dubai Metro is your go-to ride for smooth travel across the city. The RTA has extended service hours to make it easier for you to hop between major celebration hotspots like Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall, and Global Village. Plus, the Dubai Tram will be running from 6 AM on December 31 until 1 AM on January 2, providing extra transport options for those heading to JBR and other buzzing areas.
Extra buses, extra convenience
To ease congestion even more, the RTA is adding 1,400 extra buses across the city, all free to the public. These buses will keep things moving smoothly, even if some stations get packed. If you’re heading to Dubai Mall, note that the Metro station will close at 5 PM on December 31 if it hits full capacity, so it’s a good idea to use nearby stations like Business Bay instead.
Planning ahead for smooth journeys
In addition to extended transport hours, the RTA has rolled out road signs and smart transport systems to guide commuters to available parking, bus stops, and detour routes. These upgrades take the stress out of navigating the city, so you can focus on enjoying the celebrations.
