Dubai residents are stunned by the dramatic transformation of the fountain during its renovation.
If you’ve noticed the Dubai Fountain looking a bit… off lately, you’re definitely not alone.
Locals have been sharing videos of the now-empty Burj Lake, as the iconic fountain undergoes its much-anticipated renovation.
After its last show on April 19, Emaar revealed that the Dubai Fountain will be taking a break for most of 2025. But don’t fret—it’s coming back bigger and better! The upgrade will feature cutting-edge technology, enhanced choreography, and a stunning new sound and lighting system.

Famous for its jaw-dropping shows, the Dubai Fountain shoots 22,000 gallons of water as high as 140m, all in perfect sync with music and lights. It’s wowed audiences with unforgettable performances of classics like Michael Jackson’s Thriller, Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman’s Time to Say Goodbye, and K-pop sensation EXO’s Power.
Mohamed Alabbar, founder of Emaar, shared that the renovation reflects Dubai’s bold spirit, saying the restoration will keep the show as inspiring and magical as ever.
It might feel odd seeing the fountain silent for now, but Emaar assures us that an even more spectacular version is on the horizon—and the wait will be totally worth it.
