The UAE is getting its very own National baseball Team
They’ve just brought in the coach as well…
Last month, we announced that Dubai is getting its very first professional baseball field and ballpark. It won’t just be a first for the UAE, but for the entire Middle East and South Asia!
The ballpark is set to be built within the Sevens sports and entertainment complex on Al Ain Road. Not only will it be the UAE’s first baseball field, but also the first in the GCC. It will be the only baseball ground across Morocco, India, Bangladesh, and the rest of Southwest Asia.
Baseball is beloved by many countries around the world, but here in the UAE, finding a baseball fan is pretty rare. However, that might be about to change soon…
The first-ever Arab Classic is scheduled to happen at this brand-new venue from November 7 to 10, 2024. This event will be the largest national baseball tournament in the region’s history, bringing together eight countries, including India, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and… the UAE.
That’s right! Not only is the UAE getting its first-ever baseball field, but we’ve just heard the exciting news that the UAE will also be forming its very own National Baseball Team.
Eddie Diaz, a renowned Hall of Fame manager with a wealth of experience in professional baseball, has been named the first-ever manager of the UAE National Baseball Team.
Diaz’s career in professional baseball spans four decades, during which he’s taken on roles as a player, scout, manager, and executive. He’s also led the Yaquis de Obregón to three consecutive championships in the Mexican Pacific League as their manager.
Regarding his appointment, Kash Shaikh, Chairman, CEO, and Co-Founder of Baseball United, said, “He’s a fantastic person and a great motivator who genuinely cares about people. He’ll help this team grow rapidly. We anticipate a strong performance from the UAE at the Arab Classic.”
Let’s gooo, it’s time to play ball! ⚾
