UAE Govt Announces Flexible Hours For Parents During Back-To-School Season!
In a bid to simplify life for working parents, the UAE government has rolled out a new policy offering flexible working hours for public sector employees with children. This game-changing initiative is designed to help parents navigate the busy back-to-school season and beyond. Keep scrolling for all the essential details!
What’s the New Policy All About?
The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) has released a circular for the 2024-2025 academic year, granting parents flexible work hours. This policy aims to help parents juggle work responsibilities while managing their children’s school-related needs, like meetings, drop-offs, and school events.
First Day Of School Flexibility
Federal government employees who are parents now have the option to adjust their work schedules to accompany their children to and from school on the first day. They can either arrive late or leave early, with a total of three flexible hours, which can be split between the morning and afternoon.
Support For Parents Of Younger Children
For parents with children in nurseries or kindergartens, the flexible work hours extend through the entire first week of school. They are granted up to three hours per day to either arrive late or leave early, based on their needs and the school’s schedule.
Ongoing Flexibility Throughout The Academic Year
This policy extends beyond the first week of school. Parents can continue to enjoy flexible working hours for key academic events like parent-teacher meetings, graduation ceremonies, and school activities. However, this flexibility requires approval from direct managers and must ensure the federal entity’s operations remain unaffected.
A Balanced Approach To Work & Family
This initiative underscores the UAE government’s dedication to enhancing work-life balance for its employees, allowing parents to be present for their children’s key milestones without sacrificing their professional duties.
