UAE president calls for nationwide rain prayers in dubai

The UAE unites in prayer this Friday October 17, praying for UAE rain and blessings

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has called on all mosques across the country to hold Istisqaa (rain) prayers this Friday, October 17 — just 30 minutes before the regular Friday prayer.

The nation will come together in prayer, asking for rain and blessings across the UAE.

Salaat Al Istisqaa’ — the special prayer for rain — is performed when rainfall is needed, calling on Allah for mercy and blessings.

The President has urged everyone to unite in prayer, following the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who encouraged communities to come together in worship during times of need

This call highlights the UAE’s deep-rooted values of unity and faith, as mosques across the country prepare to hold the prayer simultaneously.

Residents are encouraged to take part, joining together in a collective plea for rain, mercy, and blessings for the nation and its people.

This isn’t the first time the nation has been called to unite in prayer for rain. Back in 2022, communities across the UAE came together for Salaat Al Istisqaa’ following a similar call from the leadership. More recently, in December 2024, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan once again urged mosques nationwide to perform the special prayer on December 7.

Moments like these reflect the UAE’s strong sense of faith and togetherness — as people continue to seek rainfall, mercy, and blessings for the land and its people.

When rain hits, roads get slippery, visibility drops, and safe driving becomes a must. Police across the UAE are reminding everyone to stay alert as the rainy weather rolls in — because breaking traffic rules in wet conditions could mean heavy fines and black points on your license.
