In just 24 hours, Dubai will roll out its new variable toll system under Salik on Friday, January 31st, bringing a bunch of changes for drivers. Here’s the lowdown on the updated pricing structure, aimed at improving traffic flow across the city.
Weekday Toll Charges
Starting January 31st, here’s the new dynamic pricing for weekdays:
- Peak Hours: 6 am to 10 am and 4 pm to 8 pm—drivers will pay AED 6.
- Off-Peak Hours: 10 am to 4 pm and 8 pm to 1 am—tolls drop to AED 4.
- Middle of the Night: 1 am to 6 am—no toll at all.
Sunday-Specific Rates
Flat Fee: On Sundays, the toll will be a steady AED 4 all day long.
Free Hours: 1 am to 6 am—toll-free access for everyone.

Separate Toll Pricing During Ramadan
During Ramadan, the toll system will adjust to fit the altered schedules:
- Peak Rates (AED 6): 9 am to 5 pm on weekdays.
- Off-Peak Rates (AED 4): 7 am to 9 am and 5 pm to 2 am the next day.
- Free Hours: 2 am to 7 am (Monday to Saturday).
- Sundays: Flat AED 4 from 7 am to 2 am, with free access between 2 am and 7 am.
Toll Gate Rules Stay The Same
Drivers passing through the same toll gates (like Al Safa North/South or Al Mamzar North/South) in the same direction within one hour won’t get hit with extra charges, no matter what time it is.
