In a city famous for its luxury and fine dining, the idea of a fresh, home-cooked meal for just AED 3 seems almost unreal. But for hundreds of workers in Al Muhaisnah 2, it’s a daily reality – thanks to Lokesh Mishra and his Bhojpuriya Restaurant. For just AED 10 a day, workers get breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with a full month of meals costing only AED 300. It’s a lifeline ensuring no one goes hungry, no matter their financial situation. What began as a simple effort to support laborers has since grown into something much larger. Come along as we dive into the story behind this incredible cause.
From Corporate To Kitchen
Before stepping into the kitchen, Lokesh Mishra spent nearly two decades thriving in the corporate world, working with top tech giants like Siemens, Nokia, and Apple across Europe and the Middle East. Despite his career success, Mishra had always nurtured a passion for food and hospitality. He noticed that while affordable South Indian meals were easy to find in Dubai, North Indian workers – especially those from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar – struggled to get budget-friendly meals that felt like home. So, in 2020, he decided to take a leap of faith and opened Bhojpuriya Restaurant, a place where people could enjoy hearty, comforting meals at a price that was actually within reach.
Changes During Covid
Just weeks after opening, the world came to a halt. The COVID-19 pandemic forced Bhojpuriya to shut its doors, putting the restaurant’s future in jeopardy. But Mishra wasn’t about to let that stop him. He quickly shifted to a tiffin delivery system, ensuring workers still had access to hot, home-cooked meals. Deliveries began as early as 4 AM, making sure those on long shifts wouldn’t go without. Priced at just AED 3 per meal, this service became a lifeline for many, offering more than just food – it brought reliability, comfort, and a taste of home when it was needed the most.
A hub For Food Lovers
What started as a spot for laborers has now turned into a go-to destination for food lovers all over Dubai. Word spread fast, and today, Bhojpuriya attracts not just Bhojpuri cuisine fans, but also film stars and visitors from all walks of life, all coming together to enjoy the rich flavors of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh!
One Meal, One Act of Kindness at a Time.
Bhojpuriya Restaurant is a testament to how a small act of kindness can create a big change. What began as a simple mission to offer affordable meals has blossomed into a community-driven initiative, serving hundreds every day. With a dedicated team of 15 staff members, Mishra sees them as family. At the core of it all is his unwavering belief that everyone deserves a meal that feels like home.
