Buckle up: Dubai’s flying taxis are set to take off in 2026! 🚁✨
The future of travel in Dubai is taking off! The city’s flying taxi system just hit a major milestone with the start of construction on its first vertiport—the dedicated station for flying taxis. 🚖✈️
As revealed by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Prime Minister and Crown Prince of Dubai, on X, the first vertiport for Dubai’s flying taxis will be strategically located near Dubai Airport.
The cutting-edge facility covers around 3,100 square meters and marks the first of four vertiports that will lay the foundation for Dubai’s flying taxi network. Located near Dubai Airport, this state-of-the-art station will be able to handle 42,000 landings and serve 170,000 passengers annually.

In September, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) confirmed that the city’s first fully electric air taxis will launch across four vertiports. Powered by Joby Aviation, these taxis will shuttle passengers between Dubai International Airport (DXB), Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina, and Downtown Dubai. 🚖✨ #Dubai #ElectricAirTaxis #FutureOfTravel
How much will flying taxis cost?
It’s not going to be as expensive as you might think! Joby aims to bring flying taxi prices in line with an Uber Black ride per trip. Initially, the cost may be a bit higher, but to stay competitive with regular land taxis, the prices are expected to drop over time. So, expect more affordable rates as the service becomes more mainstream! 🚖✈️ #FlyingTaxis #Dubai #AffordableInnovation
