Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has rolled out a bunch of strategies to tackle traffic congestion…
Gitex Global 2024 is happening in Dubai from October 13 to 18, attracting thousands for the world’s biggest tech and start-up event. With all the visitors flocking to Dubai Harbour from October 13 to 15 and the Dubai World Trade Center from October 16 to 18, we’re looking at some serious traffic around those spots!
So, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has unveiled a set of traffic and security plans to keep things running as smoothly as possible. They’re also urging visitors to take public transport whenever they can.
Riding the metro…
The Dubai Metro will be running as usual, with measures ready to cut down on wait times if crowds increase. If you’re heading to Gitex, there are parking spots available at Etisalat by e&, Centre Point, and Jabal Ali metro stations, so you can park your car safely and hop on the metro straight to the World Trade Centre.
Parking and Shuttle Buses
Gitex attendees can also park at the Za’abeel extension of Dubai Mall or Al Wasl Club, where the RTA has set aside thousands of parking spots. From there, shuttle buses will transport visitors to and from the DWTC.
Traffic Around Dubai World Trade Centre
Hussain Al Banna, CEO of the Traffic and Roads Agency at the RTA, mentioned that traffic lights will be “monitored and adjusted according to traffic density during peak hours through the Dubai Intelligent Traffic Systems Centre.” Smart digital signage, updated in real-time, will also guide visitors to use the metro, buses, and alternative parking options.
A dedicated taxi zone with space for 300 vehicles will be available right by the venue.
Traffic around Dubai Harbour
At Dubai Harbour, the second main spot for GITEX, there will be thousands of parking spaces nearby, along with shuttle buses ready to transport people to and from Palm Jumeirah’s multi-storey car park and Nakheel Metro Station.
Traffic lights will also be monitored and adjusted according to traffic density on King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street and surrounding roads.
For those traveling between the two locations, shuttle buses will take visitors back and forth between Dubai Harbour and the main GITEX site at DWTC.
