Using 19 leave days for 49 days off UAE

How to use only 19 days of yearly leave to receive 49 days off in the UAE

Get those annual leave requests in…

We’ve got a pretty good idea of how many public holidays are lined up in the UAE for 2025. While we’re all hyped about the upcoming long weekends, did you know you can level it up even more by strategically planning some annual leave days around them?

If you book just 14 days of annual leave, you could score a total of 42 days off. Or, if you go for 19 days, you’ll snag a massive 49 days off. Here’s the game plan…

January | New Year’s Day

Public holiday: 1 day on Wednesday, January 1, 2025
Annual leave: 2 days on Thursday, January 2, 2025, and Friday, January 3, 2025
Total: 5 days off, including the weekend!

We’re kicking off 2025 on the right foot with this plan. January 1st is a public holiday, and by adding just 2 days of annual leave, you’re looking at 5 days off, including the weekend!

April | Eid Al Fitr

Public holiday: 3 days from Monday, March 31, 2025, to Wednesday, April 2, 2025
Annual leave: 2 days on Thursday, April 3, 2025, and Friday, April 4, 2025
Total: 9 days off, including both weekends! (Plus, if you add another 5 days of annual leave, you could stretch it to a massive 16 days!)

Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Emirates Astronomy Society, has shared his prediction for the start of Ramadan in 2025. He stated, “The crescent moon marking the beginning of Ramadan 1446 AH will be sighted on Friday, February 28, 2025.” This suggests that, astronomically, Ramadan in the UAE is likely to begin on Saturday, March 1, 2025. As a result, Eid Al Fitr will most likely fall on Monday, March 31, 2025, depending on the moon sighting.

The UAE government has also announced a potential three-day holiday from Monday, March 31, 2025, to Wednesday, April 2, 2025. If you take an extra two days off on Thursday, April 3, and Friday, April 4, you’ll extend your time off to a total of 9 days, including both weekends, giving you a break all the way until April 6, 2025!

Add just 5 more days of annual leave, and you’ll be set for two whole weeks off!

May and June | Arafat Day and Eid Al Adha

Public holiday: 4 days from Friday, May 30, 2025, to Monday, June 2, 2025
Annual leave: 4 days (choose to take them either the week before Arafat Day or after Eid Al Adha)
Total: 10 days off, including both weekends!

Eid Al Adha dates depend on the moon sighting, but according to the UAE Cabinet, it’s expected to fall from Saturday, May 31, 2025, to Monday, June 2, 2025. The day before Eid, Arafat Day, will likely be Friday, May 30, 2025, based on these dates. That’s already four days off right there…
