4.3 million passengers at DXB

In the first half of January, DXB will welcome a record-breaking 4.3 million passengers.

That’s a 6% increase compared to pre-pandemic levels…

Consistently ranked as one of the world’s busiest airports, Dubai International Airport (DXB) is on track to see record-breaking numbers of travellers in the first weeks of 2025.

According to state news agency WAM, around 4.3 million passengers are expected to hustle through the terminals at DXB between the start of the year and January 15. With this forecast, it’s set to be the busiest January on record for the airport.

The busiest day was Saturday, January 3, when more than 310,000 passengers either travelled to, from, or through DXB.

With 4.3 million passengers expected over the next couple of weeks, that works out to around 287,000 people passing through DXB each day. If you’re one of them, it’s a good idea to give yourself extra time and prepare for a busier-than-usual airport experience.

These are promising numbers for DXB, showing an 8% year-on-year increase in passenger traffic, and a 6% rise compared to the pre-pandemic peak in 2018-2019.

But why now?

There’s always a holiday travel surge, with UAE residents heading home or off to cooler destinations for a winter getaway, while visitors flock to the emirates to soak in the festive season. So, as everyone heads back to their final stops, it’s no surprise there’s a lot of movement at DXB.

And with Dubai’s amazing winter weather, it’s no wonder it’s one of the top destinations to visit in January for a dose of perfect winter sun.
