Get ready for an early kick-off to the freedom of the open road…
The UAE just announced that 17-year-olds can now score their driver’s licenses! But remember, keep your eyes on the road and your phone down—TikTok will still be there later!
This is HUGE news!
According to the UAE’s Media Office, starting March 29, 2025, you’ll be able to snag your driver’s license at just 17! The government has introduced a new traffic law that’s bound to get parents feeling both excited… and a bit on edge.
Looks like 17 is officially the new 18!
Before this update, you had to be 18 to get your car license in the UAE and 17 for motorcycles. Now, the age limit is unified, making it easier for teens to get behind the wheel. With this new ruling, the UAE is leading the way in the GCC!

The news about lowering the driving age has generated a mix of reactions from the public.
While some people are curious about how this will affect traffic, others think the age limit should be set at 25 (lol). On the flip side, nearly-17-year-olds are pumped and ready to hit the roads and show off their skills!
And let’s be real, parents are probably wishing their teens don’t catch wind of this anytime soon…
