Everything you need to know about the Dubai Metro Blue Line stations
Big news for Dubai’s public transit game—construction is officially rolling on the Dubai Metro Blue Line expansion, set to drop by 2029. This huge upgrade has been in the talks since way back in 2006, alongside plans for new lines and extensions to the Red and Green routes. After years of waiting, the project is finally in motion. Curious about what the future network will look like? We’ve got all the deets.
The new line’s set to connect 9 major spots, including Dubai International Airport, Mirdif, Al Warqa, International City 1 & 2, Dubai Silicon Oasis, Academic City, Ras Al Khor Industrial Area, Dubai Creek Harbour, and Dubai Festival City.
Academic City
The university area covers more than 129 million square feet and is predicted to accommodate more than 50,000 students by 2029.
Al Jaddaf
The new line’s set to connect 9 major spots, including Dubai International Airport, Mirdif, Al Warqa, International City 1 & 2, Dubai Silicon Oasis, Academic City, Ras Al Khor Industrial Area, Dubai Creek Harbour, and Dubai Festival City.
Al Rashidiya
Centrepoint Station on the Red Line will serve as the starting point for the new route, acting as a key interchange. Plus, the Blue Line will link up with the final station on the Red Line for smooth transfers.
Al Warqa
A long-awaited link for the booming Al Warqa community, the Al Warqa station will be part of the Blue Line’s smaller second route.
Mirdif
Mirdif, with its big suburban vibe, definitely needs better direct transit—and this station will be on the Blue Line’s longer 21km route.
Dubai Creek Harbour
Get ready for the world’s tallest metro station—Emaar Properties Station is set to be an iconic Dubai landmark. Spanning 11,000 square meters, it’ll handle up to 160,000 passengers, with over 70,000 expected to roll through daily once it’s live. Plus, a groundbreaking 1,300-meter bridge will let the Metro cross Dubai Creek—the first-ever of its kind.
Dubai Festival City
Dubai Festival City will be on the longer 21km Blue Line route, connecting a major Dubai mall. This direct Metro link will make getting around the city way easier and cut down the need to rely on the abra boats.
Dubai International Airport
A bunch of these Blue Line communities will now have a direct link to Dubai International Airport. And here’s the kicker—it’s estimated that the trip to the world’s busiest international airport will only take about 20 minutes.
Dubai Silicon Oasis
Dubai Silicon Oasis is a fast-growing hub in line with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan. Its Blue Line station will be on the 21km route, finally connecting this key area—currently with almost no direct links to Downtown.
International City
The Blue Line will serve International City, an area currently missing solid transport links. This includes an underground interchange station to boost connectivity across the existing Metro network.
Ras Al Khor
Ras Al Khor will be part of the Blue Line’s longer route, nestled between Emaar Properties and International City stations. This means the area will soon enjoy much better connections to key spots across Dubai.
