Highlighting “Rainfall in the UAE,” “Coldplay,” and the “Dubai Chocolate Bar”…
It’s hard to believe another year is wrapping up! If you’re looking to revisit the standout moments in the UAE, checking out the most popular search terms is a great way to kick off your reflection.
On December 10, Google unveiled its trending search queries for countries worldwide, as well as global trends, offering us a glimpse into what captured the attention of users across the globe. The top search terms are categorized into areas like news, movies, sports, and celebrities. Google also shared the top 10 searches in each category that kept UAE residents hooked over the past year.
Rainfall in UAE
It’s no surprise that one of the top trending terms in the UAE’s news category was “Rainfall in UAE.” This makes perfect sense, considering that in April 2024, Dubai experienced the heaviest rainfall in its history, grounding flights and leaving hundreds of homes flooded.
Donald Trump, Coldplay and Kate Middleton
In the personalities category, the top search in the UAE was for President-elect Donald Trump, following his victory in the November 2024 presidential election.
After Trump, the next most-searched personalities in the UAE were Coldplay. No surprise there, as residents were eagerly hunting for tickets to the band’s highly anticipated four-date Abu Dhabi show in September, fueling a mix of excitement and ticket-hunting desperation.
Dubai Chocolate Bar
A special shoutout goes to the viral sensation Fix Dessert Chocolatier, the Dubai-born chocolate brand that’s taken the world by storm, thanks to its TikTok videos. In the Food and Drink category, “Dubai chocolate bar” ranked as the fifth most searched term globally.
